2012 was the year Kendrick Lamar stepped into the spotlight to claim the biggest-selling debut album (Good Kid, m.A.A.d City’), for any new artist in the US – selling over 240k copies in one week alone. As well as being hailed as the new voice/face of West Coast Hip Hop from his peers and winning numerous accolades such as BET’s coveted ‘Hip Hop Lyricist of The Year’ Award. Simply put, Kendrick was the name on everyone’s lips.
Continuing his success into the new year and following up his hit single Swimming Pool (Drunk) and street track, The Recipe ft Dr. Dre. Kendrick will be releasing the fan favourite Backseat Freestyle (produced by Hit Boy), on January 7th through Top Dawg Entertainment/Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records.
Taken from his critically-acclaimed album, ‘Good Kid, m.A.A.d City’, the 25 year old Compton native will be supporting this release with a six date, sold-out UK tour in January, kicking off in Newcastle on the 15th and ending the UK run at Hammersmith Apollo, London on the 20th.
